Take advantage of your stay at the campsite to walk around

From Saint Gilles Croix de Vie to the Sion district of Saint Hilaire de Riez, the Corniche Vendéenne reveals three kilometers of wild rocky coastline where the shores of an ancient island are still visible. Over the centuries, the arm of the sea that separated the mainland from this ancient island, the Ile de Ré, was gradually filled in by marine deposits.

Recently developed, the Corniche Vendéenne is a very nice hike to do as a couple, with friends or with your children. It offers a unique view of the cliffs and the numerous rocks.

To the south, facing the tip of Grosse Terre, you can observe the “Pilours”, an elongated rock that remains visible at high tide. Then, following the Corniche to the north, you will come across a cave called “Trou du diable”. This cavity is also called the devil’s pot because the water boils there as in a cauldron and a schist arch, representing the cove, overhangs it.

At the end of the cliffs of Sion, you can observe five isolated rocks facing the sea, called the “Five Pineaux”.
